Who created Bowen Therapy?

Thomas Ambrose Bowen (1916.04.18—1982.10.28)

Tom, a Geelong Boy developed Bowen through the 1950’s as manual method to treat and manage pain after having served and seeing the effects of World War II. He was an expert in diagnostics and palpation. He reportedly treated 13,000 patients a year from his practice in Geelong, Victoria, Australia and had a heart for helping alleviate pain in people living with Disabilities.

Tens of thousands of practitioners have trained in Bowen worldwide and it was claimable on Health Insurance in the early 21st Century. His method has been taught to Physiotherapists, Osteopaths and Chiropractors and Bowen Therapists often work alongside as Allied Health.

Tom was deaf, wore two hearing aids and would click his finger to signify to his assistants that he was finished with what he was doing. Tom lost both his legs and sadly passed over young Age 66. When he started he would open his clinics for 2 hours at a time and see to a queue that was 20 deep to receive his treatment.
